PORTION CONTROL are a legendary British electronic and
industrial band formed in London in 1980. The band refers to
its own musical style as electropunk or hard rhythmic
electronics. They are one of the most famous obscure electronic
music acts in the world and have been honored and name checked
by the likes of DEPECHE MODE (with whom they toured as a support
act), SKINNY PUPPY, FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY, NINE INCH NAILS and ORBITAL.
Since their return in 2004 they have self-released a stream of
critically acclaimed CDs and EPs as well as actively presenting
their live transmissions at festivals such as Tinnitus Festival
(UK), Reverse Forward Festival (Germany), Wave Gothic Treffen
(Germany) and BodyBeats Festival (Belgium) to name a few.
Now PORTION CONTROL have teamed up with Sigsaly Transmissions to release this two-disc album. "Crop" is both a compilation of
material from 2004-2008 as well as a CD EP of re-worked and ALL
NEW material. Through its release on Sigsaly Transmissions
"Crop" will be the first PORTION CONTROL product to be
comprehensively promoted and distributed, hopefully exposing
their influential sound to new listeners.

The follow-up to 2006's 'Meds' was recorded in Toronto by Dave
Bottrill (Tool) and mixed by Alan Moulder (My Bloody
Valentine/Nine Inch Nails), and heralds a new era for the
veteran rockers.
Frontman Brian Molko has discussed the new album by saying:
"We've made a record about choosing life, and choosing to live,
about stepping out of the darkness and into the light. Not
necessarily turning your back on the darkness because it's
there, it's essential; it's a part of who you are, but more
about the choice of standing in the sunlight instead".
He continued: "I'm very optimistic about the future. I'm in a
positive frame of mind and a good headspace. It's very exciting.
There's a lot of life in the old dog just yet".

Blacksmith3D - программа для художников, которая позволяет с легкостью создавать текстуры прямо на 3D моделях. Ее название дословно переводится как "3D-кузнец", и разработчики говорят о том, что оно выбрано не случайно. Программа действительно дает возможность деформировать объекты разными способами.
Blacksmith3D состоит из нескольких модулей: Blacksmith3D Morph, Blacksmith3D Paint и Blacksmith3D HeadForge. Первый модуль предназначен для деформации объектов, где сила воздействия инструментов зависит от того, насколько "раскалена" часть объекта. Та часть, которая более "горячая" деформируется больше, а более "холодная" часть - меньше. Второй модуль предназначен для 3D-рисования на поверхностях объектов. Дает возможность рисовать цветом, картами рельефа и смещения, а также прозрачностью. Модуль HeadForge предназначен для автоматической генерации лиц персонажей. Используя заготовки в качестве основы, модуль изменяет лица случайным образом, создавая совершенно другие черты лица.
